Sick...again...

This time of year is so tough. The kids are getting a lot of tummy bugs this year. I just give them lots of love and hugs. Yesterday was the big Christmas concert. After it was all said and done, my boy tells me he had a terrible tummy ache and it took everything he had to not get sick. Poor guy. He is better today, but his sister has it now. She can not fight it as well as he can. Joys of motherhood. At least I do not have to go to the school three times today! Yeah!! (Usually I enjoy the walks.) The weather is not the best today, so staying in the house with sick kids is not so bad.

Maybe we can do some activity to celebrate the Christmas holiday.

I get to celebrate two Thanksgiving dinners. Yummy!! I am always, (or try to be), thankful of all the blessings in my life. Especially my friends from the States.(I will ALWAYS love you.) But, new friendships have become very prevalent in my life lately. I have met new friends through blogging and also in life. Two women have become very dear to me. Just when I though it was impossible to find "good" friends, here they are, waiting for me. You see, I have many "good" friends in the States, but it took me 9 years to find some good friends here in Canada. God is good. He new when I was ready for some new people to enter my life. I am Thankful with all my heart, to have the gift of friendship!

The Fabulous Ball

All my work has paid off!!!

I can't believe that the Ball finally came and went! We all spent a long time working on our dresses and accessories. We started from scratch!! I do not have much sewing skills. But, after doing this project I really advanced in my abilities. It was great fun and addicting! I loved every step of it. (For the most part, anyway.)

This whole thing started with going to a lecture on what women whore in the 1812 and then we got asked if we would like to join dance lessons and go to the Ball. Linnie and I looked at each other and laughed, like are you joking??? There is no way we could have a dress done in time and go to lessons!!! Are you crazy?

Well, then we went home and on our way we decided to give it a chance. We went to the fabric store and looked at what they had. Well, lowe and behold, don't we find some great bargain fabric that would do the job?

And it snowballed from there! Here are some pictures at the Ball.

The food was made special for the occasion. It turned out great!

The highlight of the night for me was when it was time to go. I had worn slippers, but forgot to bring some shoes. Go figure, it was raining outside. Well, nothing left to do, but for my husband to carry me to the car. So romantic! But don't we get to the car and the door is locked! My husband was barely holding on to me so I don't fall into the mud. Our friend, who does not drive this car regularly, does not know how to unlock the doors in the dark! Well, he finally figured it out after a few minutes and only my big toe got muddy!! We did it! I did not fall into the mud, (my whole self, that is). It sure made for a good laugh! (Sorry no picture.)

What a great time we all had!!!

The Niagara Glen

My family took a hike at what they call the Glen in Niagara Falls. It is a place you can hike down and get right up close to the Whirlpool. The water runs super fast. This huge area is where the Niagara Falls use to be, many, many years ago. The water from the Falls actually carved the land and made this beautiful area.

Here are a few pictures of us taking a hike and having a little cook out for dinner.

Here is Lukas just getting home from school standing in front of the tree. This tree was very healthy. That wind was strong!

This is a tree that got knocked over during a terrible wind storm. It took the fence and wires with it.

Thankfully we were all fine during this storm. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that suffered during these storms that went across the States. It just goes to show you what Mother Nature can do. From creating a beautiful Glen, to creating devistation and distruction in areas that were once beautiful. Thats why we have to count our Blessings everyday and Love and respect God and all His people.

Just An Update

I just wanted to write a quick update on Linnie's Mom. She just got out of ICU yesterday. She had emergency surgery to put in a Greenfield Filter a few days ago. This filter is a mini umbrella type mesh that is put in to prevent any large clots from going to her lungs and/or heart. She is also on blood thinners. Poor Nani (Irene Davey) is so not used to being so dependent on others for care. She loves her independence and this is a real shock to her mentally. She still needs prayers in keeping her upbeat about it all. Linnie and I thank you for all of your prayers and comments about this. Linnie will be at the hospital all day again today.

I know I have not written in a long time, but life has just gotten crazy. I will catch up some time soon. But I have something I need from everybody. My "mom" Linnie, that has the blog Butt'ry and Book'ry, just found out that her mom is in ICU. She has many blood clots throughout her body and they are not sure if she will make it. Could everybody pray that she comes out of this and gets better soon. Linnie and Nani are so close and I know that they need more time together. So please pray for her.

Buddies Forever

Are you a cat lover?

Oh how I love my cats. They are part of me. I have two cats. Maggi is always in doors. Bubbs is an indoor/outdoor cat. Maggi is a very independent short haired, gray/ tan mix. Bubbs is a long haired, fluffy orange and white boy cat. Maggi comes to you on her terms. Bubbs comes when you call him, no matter where he is. He could be blocks away and as soon as I call him, he comes. Maggi is about 8 years old. Bubbs is 10. We have had Maggi since she was about 6 weeks old. We originally got her for Bubbs because he cried and wined so much when we got him, that we decided he needed a buddy. Well at first they hated each other. Bubbs would bat and hiss at her all the time. Then as time went on he grew to tolerate her. Now, they love each other. They play together, they share food, they give each other bathes. Its quite funny. Its amazing how animals that come from totally different parts of the Country and are so different and can become the best of friends. Now I am sure it helps that Bubbs goes outside. Come to find out, I think Bubbs just wanted outside, not a friend. That's okay. I am glad for my cats!

Valentines And Such

I find it hard to figure out what to do for each holiday. I want to make it fun for my kids, but I don't want to go crazy with it either. Sarah and I did some fun activities while her brother was in school.

Here she is glueing some heart Valentines. I think she does well for being 3.

I had to include this picture of my cat. Doesn't she have beautiful colouring? The sun was shining on her just right. She also cooperated with me. (Not an easy thing to do with a cat that likes to do her own thing.)

Lukas cooking Pancakes for us. These are our Valentine pancakes. This is rare time for him to help. he is not to big on cooking anymore. Maybe in due time that will change.

These are the finished pancakes. Don't they look good? We used my new Cuisenart Griddler. I love it!

Now that is a happy boy!!!! Now he gets to eat.

Behind The Scenes

How do I keep up with life? I almost always feel like I am falling behind. Their seems like so much to do all the time I don't know where to begin, so then I procrastinate and nothing gets done. Or things that are easy get done and the rest gets put off. Anybody know what I mean? Maybe it is based on what is expected on me from society. Or maybe its what I think should be expected of myself. Not sure. Sometimes I will get lots done, then I will go for a while and do crafts and such instead of cleaning. I HATE CLEANING

I just have to say it.

I would rather cook, knit or just go outside and enjoy the great outdoors, then scrub the floors.

YUCK! Or do laundry, YUCK! I still do those things, its just that I wait until it gets really bad sometimes. I also need an organized way to get organized. That make sense? Now will any of these books help? I don't know. I have never read any of them. Anybody know these books at all? Maybe when I get organized enough I will read them. He He!

I am not sure the kids know what to do with it. They look kind of stumped.
Anyway....

Here is my little helper!!! I am so glad to have someone to help me make this cake. She enjoys baking so much. I will never need to think we won't have enough baked goods in the future.

WE HAVE SNOW!!!

We have snow and it is cold, white and just beautiful! This is the first real snow this Winter. My kids love it. Yesterday I let my boy stay home from school. After lunch we went outside and played. The kids made snow balls and snow angels. We met up with some of the neighbor friends and they had a great time playing together. Once everybody had bright rosy cheeks and frozen toes and fingers we went in for a nice cup of hot chocolate. YUMMMY!
Speaking of hot chocolate. I found a great recipe on line for chocolate pudding. It is homemade coco with some corn starch and cook it a little longer until it thickens. The kids and my Hubby loved it. Its easy and not too many ingredients. No eggs to worry about scrambling.
I know chocolate pudding is not exactly a Winter treat, but I guess I had a chocolate craving.
Talk again soon.
Now I need to bake something. Any ideas? Maybe a cake.

Time for a New Year

With the New Year coming it is time for me to reevaluate my life. What did I like about this past year and what did I not like. What can I change and do different? Should I change anything? I am kind of happy at how my life has turned out so far. Although there are some times I am not. When I look at the whole picture, I think I have done well this year. My main focus has been my family. With having two young kids, a house and my cats to take care of life has passes by and I am stuck way in the back.

Who am I kidding? There is a lot to change. I have a long list of things I would like to accomplish and try out. Like this blog. This is a whole new adventure for me. I am getting into my crafts more. I am knitting a sock!! Want to see? I just started knitting a year ago, but that is just here and there. I hope to get faster and better as I go with the sock.

I am painting a paint by number. I like that, but it takes so long to do every detail and mixing the paints. This painting will take me another year to finish. That is how it works with a crafty brain like mine. I have many projects going, and enjoy the all. But it takes me forever to finish them. And then I find something else to try. That is the excitement of life. That is what life should be based on. Abatement for the next project! If I can always keep that in mind, then this New Year will be fantastic. Oh...
Another project is for me to find out more about myself. Think I can do it? I will see. Only time will tell....

There seems to be a Rainbow in my future!

What a fun time. It was great that it happened on Sunday. My Hubby was home, therefore we could do more then usual. My sis came over and went trick or treating with us. My Hubby handed out treats.

I like these times when it feels like everybody has come together for a fun time. One of our neighbors was celebrating his B-day and gave all the adults a nice spiked drink. It was great! Everybody was so nice and enjoying the great night for some spooky fun. The kids really enjoyed it. Sarah was a Giraffe and Lukas Batman. They got way to much candy. They had the most fun just going from house to house. All the costumes were great and there really were no issues. We all had a great time.

The sun is out. But we sure have enough wind. Halloween is almost here. Lukas is the most excited. He will have a party and walk around in his costume tomorrow morning. He will be Batman. My boy is such a fun kid. Everybody likes him at school. All I ever hear is "Hi Lukas B" from many of the kids around the school yard. They call him Lukas B because last year there was another Lukas, (Lukas T) in his class. It is so cute to hear because the other Lukas is in the other class, so they don't have to call him that, but they do. On top of being a fun kid he does so well in school. His teacher says he is the quietest kid and the nicest kid in the class. He is so helpful with everybody. We could not have gotten a better boy from God. We are absolutely blessed.

Whats Interesting?

My little girl and I took a walk to one of the local parks around here. The trees are just so full of color. I just can't get enough of Fall. I wish it lasted longer then Winter. It is so much fun watching children interact with each other. Sarah found another little girl to play with, we were the only ones at the park. Sarah has such a personality. She will play, but she does her own thing. Its not like they are not welcome to join her, but Sarah is in her own world. She is very nice about it, she just could not be bothered to follow along with somebody else's games. But she loves other kids. She had a good time.

Then tonight Markus was away, so I was with the kids. So we played a game of Hide and Seek in the dark. Its a nice warm dark night. My kids love that game. Especially at night. I played it as a kid all the time. I guess it kind of takes me back. I love it when I try to hide somewhere and Sarah has to be right with me. We have a good time. These are the times I wish I could put this in a bottle and save it.

October Weekend

This October has been beautiful so far!!!

Today is a lazy Saturday. Lots to do, but I want to go have fun! Maybe we will go for a hike. Enjoy the nice colors on the leaves and the sounds in the woods. My kids will love it. They enjoy going for hikes. I think it is one of our favorite things to do. Then we will see what the rest of the day holds.
